Next Up, Grandma Judy and Grandpa Tom!

Our next set of July visitors were Grandpa Tom, Grandma Judy and cousin Billy. It was Gram and Gramp's 2nd time to the BH. They came the first summer we built the cabin and Grandpa fished and fished for 3 days without catching a single fish! This time he was bound and determined to not only catch A Fish, but also a Wall Of Fame Fish! Well, Grandpa wasted no time and was soon catching them left and right. He also caught a few trees and managed to wrap his line around the paddle boat peddle, but I will choose to stay focused on the positive! He became obsessed with breaking Zach's record of 40 fish caught and in the end, set a new Adult record of 42 catches! That way Zach's kid record is still intact!

Billy and his cousins kept the frog catching tradition alive and Billy caught George, our biggest catch ever! He was so big, he kept hopping out of the habitat box that we used for Toadie. Putting out heads together, we decided to put him into a tall sun tea maker container. This held him for a while. However, Reece caught a tiny frog and put him in the jar with George. Frogger was his name and he was even able to jump thru the small pour opening at the top of the lid! The boys had moved the jar into the house and when I went into their bedroom, Frogger was standing next to the jar out on the carpet! I yelled for the frog catchers to help and soon he was put back with George.
On day 2, I decided to take Grandma into Cadillac to shop and have lunch. It had been raining that morning, so little fishing could be done. Before we left, Grandpa Tom was back out trying to catch a big one. I told him, sorry, Dad, but they don't really bite after it rains. Plus, it was mid-day and he was standing on the shore. If I've learned anything about fishing, the chances of him catching a large mouth under those conditons were NOT GOOD! However, I didn't take into account that his guardian angel, Great Grandma, was in position to help! Wouldn't you know it...minutes later the man caught his wall of fame fish! I had to ask him to move 2 times while photographing him with his catch because so much light was in the shot. Yet in real life, it was a gray, rainy day. That was our proof that Great Grandma not only helped, but also wanted to be in the picture as well!

Mom and I had a good time in Cadillac. We did some shopping and went out to lunch. Grandma Judy is a funny visitor. She likes the idea of the brown house, but doesn't last long outside when a bug buzzes her! She was brave enough to take a paddle boat ride, even if she did have to sit on her hands so the seaweed wouldn't jump into the boat and touch her! She did get to play a lot of Rummikub and Gret really got into it. Even after Grandma's visit, Gret's interest in the game lasted all summer long.
