We just returned from a fun fall weekend at the Brown House. We tried to find the pumpkin patch we visited last year, but were unsuccessful. Dan thinks corn was more profitable this year, so many people planted more of that than anything. We did go into Reed City and did a trick-or-treat event with the kids. It was fun to see all the costumes. Gret got alot of comments on his Magglio get up and when Reece would put on his Yoda mask (which wan't often, by the way) he got some compliments, too.
The colors were great once again and did not disappoint. We also saw a bald eagle and a buck running thru the woods. We hung the sign that I got for Dan for our anniversary in front of the house. It looks really nice. I plan to landscape around it in the spring. We also hung new blinds in the boy's bedroom and in the guest room,(Dan's gift to me) so next time we have visitors, you will be able to make your room as dark as you want it! :)
Got to have breakfast with Grandpa Lu, Grandma Dorena and Aunt Lisa on Sunday. It was good to see them. We also had a visitor stop by on Saturday. While I was out working on the sign, a truck pulled up. Two guys came down and introduced themselves. The one told me his Mom and Dad used to own our property way back when the association was just forming (Approx. 1967-68). He said it was his Dad's dream to build a house where we did and when he saw that someone did that, he wanted to see it! His Dad had just recently passed away, but he seemed genuinely happy that we are living his Dad's dream. He told me some cool stories about how they used to have fishing contests on our pennisula and people would line up shoulder to shoulder around the whole edge from inlet to inlet. Then they would have big bbq's afterward. I always sensed our place had some good karma associated with it! Too cool.
