Sledding Shots!

The boys were so excited about the snow that we busted out the sleds on Friday and Daddy pushed down the slopes by the walkout basement! Big fun was had by all.

Thanksgiving 2007 at the Brown House!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at the Brown House! As if right on cue, we woke Thanksgiving morning to snow! The boys were so excited to reach out and touch it. Since we couldn't watch the Detroit parade, I altered the almond coffee cake and parade viewing tradition to include eating Krispe Kremes, instead! Then Daddy joined in and started the bird, which we have learned is a Radomski family tradition that goes back 4 generations.

The boys helped to decorate the table and made placecards for Aunt Lisa, Grandma Dorena, Grandpa Lu and Aunt Bernice, as well as for Dan and I. They were so cute. Gret went all out and decorated both sides, while Reece drew turkey in all different states (alive, precooked, cooked, etc.) Too funny. By the time our guests arrived, the house smelled wonderful and the table looked great!

The dinner itself was met with rave reviews. It was a wonderful meal and afterward we played some games and cards. Aunt Bernice and I were partners and ended up beating Dan and Lu...unheard of!

This Thanksgiving I think we all felt very thankful for being able to spend time together!

First Ever Girl's Weekend at the BH!

I hosted my 1st ever Girls Weekend this past weekend at the Brown House. It had all the elements that women want...sexy men, cocktails, shopping, dining out, lounging in pajamas, gossip magazines...I know, I know...do tell!

Well, it started on Friday afternoon when Kris, Jean and I headed up to Mt. Pleasant. Car #2 with Rachael, Nita and Megan were a few hours behind. Our destination was the Soaring Eagle Casino to see the Chippendale dancers. Since we were in the lead, we swung by O'Kelly's sports bar and had a few drinks and appetizers. Then we moved on to the casino and pulled a few slot machine arms until show time. No big winners, but I did try the Star Wars slots in honor of the boys.

The rest of the group showed up right before show time. Our seats were WAY in the back, so we did not to get experience the Chips up close and personal AT ALL. But it was still fun to watch from afar and watch all the different types of women in the audience getting nutty. After the show, we headed to dinner at their nice restaurant. The food was good, and all was going well, until we got the bill and Kris (aka. Sexy Textie) realized that her wallet was missing. We remembered that her purse had fallen off the ledge that was in front of us during the show, so we hoped that maybe it was still on the ground in the auditorium. Megan escorted Kris to the security desk and by the time we all got there, the wallet had been found and return to her with nothing missing. Yippee! Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

From there we headed back to the BH, but not before Sexy Textie worked her magic on the valet! Jean was the DD and got us there no problem. Rachael met up with us at 66 and we took the back way home. After we unpacked the cars, everyone was pretty tired, so we called it a night.

We all knew Kris was planing on leaving to head to her own cabin on Saturday, we just didn't know that she would scoot out before any of us even woke up! Most of us slept in until 9:30...which might not sound late, but when you are used to getting up with kids at the crack of dawn, it felt awfully darn good! We lounged around a while before heading into Cadillac for lunch and shopping. It started snowing on us once in Cadillac. Big huge flakes, too. Very pretty. It was really nice to eat and shop and stop for coffee and just relax without having anyone complaining or having to worry about what people will or won't eat and even needing to be home by any given time. Rachael's mom had sent up some beef stroganoff for dinner, so we knew what we were having for our main course, but we stopped and picked up a few things to go along with it and then headed back for a nice dinner. A couple of bottles of wine and a lot of entertainment magazines later, we googled Tina Fey's scar, Jamie Lee Curtis sex organs, and Natalie Portman SNL rap, did some online shopping, decorated the fridge with pics of hot men (Leo, Brad, McSteamy, Jon, and Orville), played some Spoons and said good night.

On Sunday morning, we packed up and headed to the Birch Run outlet mall. It was pretty crowded since this was opening weekend for deer hunters, but we all managed to pick up a few gifts for Christmas and/or for ourselves. That is so my style of shopping...One for you...one for me!

Overall, I have to say this was exactly the type of weekend I had hoped for and a do over will definitely be on the calendar for next year, if not sooner!

November at the Brown House

The boys had a half day on Friday, Nov. 9th, so we headed up to the Brown House for the weekend. We had rainy weather off and on, but Saturday was mostly cool and beautiful. We got to see beavers busy at work, swimming through the water on Saturday morning.

Then we headed to Cadillac to see The Bee Movie. The kids enjoyed the movie going experience (ie. popcorn, slurpee, candy) but honestly, the storyline was over their heads. Dan and I had a few good laughs, and we both agreed it was more of a movie for grown ups than for kids.

On our way home, we picked up our dining table from the rustic furniture place. We had dropped it off in September to be fixed. It's back now and looks great.

Later, Grandpa Lu and Aunt Lisa came over for dinner. Grandma Dorena stayed home, since she wasn't feeling well. There was much wrestling going on between Grandpa, Daddy and the boys! You could tell Grandpa Lu had missed his little buddies.

We headed back to Berkley on Sunday, by way of Lansing and stopped off to visit the Sneathens. The kids ran around and played while Dan, Todd, Shel and I played some darts and had Jersey Giants. Yum. It had been a while and was nice to see them.

Dan always says when we go up for a weekend that it just doesn't feel long enough, but I don't agree. I love our little escapes, even if they are only for a weekend. I think they just leave you wanting more!
